Testimonials for treatment of arthritis in dogs with PREVICOX® (firocoxib)

See for Yourself What Veterinarians and Dog Owners have been Saying About How PREVICOX Treats Dog Arthritis

"Since the introduction of PREVICOX, we have moved to using it as our first-line treatment for dogs with osteoarthritis pain. The response from owners has been positive. In those cases of dogs who have not responded so well to other products, their owners are saying they have seen a visible difference in the results they have received with PREVICOX."

"When choosing an NSAID to treat a dog with osteoarthritis, the dog's comfort level following use is an important measure of the product's effectiveness. I am impressed with the results I've seen after starting dogs on PREVICOX. It's as basic as this—I'm sending clients home with the product and they are coming back pleased and asking for more."

"Manheim, my 12-year-old Border Collie, was raised to become a service dog for Canine Companions for Independence. When he was no longer able to continue his training, I adopted him. He has always lived an active doggy lifestyle with no time to worry about pain of any kind. He was too busy helping me out at school safety presentations and career days and even competing in Flyball relay race competitions. Manheim was always one step ahead of me.
"I later found out that time had taken a toll on him and he now has arthritis both mid-spine and in his hips. My veterinarian recommended PREVICOX and what a difference I saw. Manheim is doing things I had forgotten he used to do. He is the first to wake me up in the mornings and he has started to run and play with my one-year-old Labrador. It's now a race for their favorite toys. He is back to making his "woo-woo" sound when he is just happy—one of those Border Collie things. What a joy it is to see him like this.
"Thank you Merial for giving me PREVICOX and for giving me my dog back."

"As a veterinarian, I want to recommend products that have proven science and efficacy behind them. I truly believe that PREVICOX is made to an exacting standard—it's specifically for dogs and their osteoarthritis needs. It's been proven safe and, as a once-a-day chewable tablet, it makes things easier for owners. Since its launch, I have made PREVICOX my NSAID of choice and will continue to recommend it as a first-line treatment for canine osteoarthritis."

"We have had Puddin' on several medications, but she became steadily worse. At 15 years old, she was slowing down a lot, but then her legs began to give out just walking across a smooth floor. Going up and down steps was out of the question. Our veterinarian recommended we try PREVICOX. It's truly amazing to see the difference PREVICOX made. Puddin' now trots around the house and out in the yard with her tail wagging every step of the way. She is much happier now, and so am I. PREVICOX gave me my dog back!"

"Before using PREVICOX, Cain's osteoarthritis greatly limited his daily movement. He was always really unsteady in his back legs. After a few days of taking his daily tablet, I could see a difference. PREVICOX has made a huge impact on Cain's life. Every day is a better day for him now. I'm so glad that we finally have something that gives Cain more freedom to move."

"Jak, a very active and social 10-year-old, 98-pound German Shepherd, developed an arthritic condition in the hip, back and neck joints in the spring of 2005. Jak was very stiff and slow in getting up and down, avoided jumping and running and was restless at night and lethargic during the day from the pain. In July of 2005, Jak started on PREVICOX. We are extremely fortunate that we have a veterinarian who keeps on the leading edge of animal health care and recommended Jak try the product. Jak has shown changes ever since. He shows no difficulty in getting up and down, and is jumping in and out of the van and on and off the porch. He is back to playing ball—his favorite thing in the whole wide world! He is resting better at night and is fully attentive during the day. Jak has not experienced any noticeable undesirable side effects and my veterinarian tells me his blood work has stayed in normal ranges. Obviously, we are very pleased with the results we are seeing and have to assume PREVICOX is providing Jak pain relief. As long as Jak is happy, we are happy and will continue with the PREVICOX regimen under the watchful eyes of our veterinarian."

"I work with dogs every day that I know are suffering from arthritic pain. That usually brings an owner who is looking to provide them with some relief. With the introduction of PREVICOX, we have been able to offer that. The initial dogs participating in the PREVICOX trial program at our clinic showed drastic improvement in their attitude, and they were generally less restless. That's a significant improvement for dogs that normally have restricted mobility. Their overall response continues to be extremely positive. When it comes to NSAIDs, I don't need a lot of choices, I just need one I know will work. I feel confident recommending PREVICOX to my veterinarians for our clients' pets."

"PREVICOX has made a new dog out of Alexis, my Rottweiler. Her osteoarthritis limited her ability to exercise and so she was gaining weight. She has very bad hips and used to bunny hop up the stairs. Since she's been using PREVICOX she goes up the stairs normally and enjoys playing with our three-month-old puppy. Best of all, you can see it in her face that she's not in pain anymore."

As a class, cyclooxygenase inhibitory NSAIDs may be associated with gastrointestinal, kidney or liver side effects. These are usually mild, but may be serious. Pet owners should discontinue therapy and contact their veterinarian immediately if side effects occur. Evaluation for pre-existing conditions and regular monitoring are recommended for pets on any medication, including PREVICOX. Use with other NSAIDs, corticosteroids or nephrotoxic medication should be avoided. Refer to the prescribing information for complete details.
